What is Apache?

Apache HTTP Server is one of the very first widely adopted web servers, and remains one of the most used in the world today. It historically relies on a process or thread per connection, with several operating modes (MPM) depending on your needs.

Its main strength: the .htaccess file, which lets you configure server behavior folder by folder, without touching the central configuration.

Why choose Apache

That per-folder flexibility is especially handy when several projects or users share the same hosting environment, or for applications that rely on .htaccess for their own URL rewriting or security rules (WordPress and a large part of the PHP ecosystem, in particular).

Its huge module ecosystem (URL rewriting, authentication, compression, security) covers practically every common website need.

What sites is it for?

Apache is particularly well suited to WordPress-based sites or other PHP CMS platforms, shared hosting with multiple users, and any project that needs the per-folder configuration flexibility offered by .htaccess.

Apache on Asuoo WebHost plans

Apache is one of the two web servers available across our WebHost plans, alongside Nginx, with a free .asuoo.app subdomain and a database included from the very first plan.

Securing your hosting

Every IP attempting to connect to our infrastructure, WebHost included, is checked in real time against the NetBait.org database, and our entire network is protected by a Layer 3/4 Anti-DDoS system, regardless of the web server you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Apache or Nginx, which one should I choose?

Apache is often preferred for its .htaccess flexibility and WordPress/PHP compatibility; Nginx for high traffic and static content. Both are available, so it comes down to your project.

Does WordPress run well on Apache at Asuoo?

Yes, Apache and its native .htaccess support work well with WordPress and most PHP CMS platforms.

Is Apache included at no extra cost?

Yes, this choice does not change the price of your WebHost plan.
