What is Nginx?

Nginx (pronounced "engine-x") is a web server built on an asynchronous, event-driven architecture: instead of spawning a process or thread per connection like Apache traditionally does, it handles a very large number of simultaneous connections with very little memory, inside a single process.

That design makes it particularly efficient at serving static files (images, CSS, JS) and at acting as a reverse proxy in front of an application.

Why choose Nginx

Its memory usage, low and stable even under heavy load, makes it a good choice when traffic becomes large or unpredictable. Configuration happens through a central file (nginx.conf or included files), rather than .htaccess files scattered across each folder.

What sites is it for?

Nginx is particularly well suited to high-traffic sites, APIs, and any site that serves a lot of static content or needs to act as a reverse proxy in front of a backend application.

Nginx on Asuoo WebHost plans

Nginx is one of the two web servers available across our WebHost plans, alongside Apache, with a free .asuoo.app subdomain and a database included from the very first plan.

Securing your hosting

Every IP attempting to connect to our infrastructure, WebHost included, is checked in real time against the NetBait.org database, and our entire network is protected by a Layer 3/4 Anti-DDoS system, regardless of the web server you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Nginx or Apache, which one should I choose?

Nginx is often preferred for high traffic and static content; Apache for its per-folder configuration flexibility via .htaccess. Both are available, so it comes down to your project.

Can I switch web servers afterwards?

The choice between Nginx and Apache is available as soon as you order your WebHost plan.

Is Nginx included at no extra cost?

Yes, this choice does not change the price of your WebHost plan.
